Chennai, May 5: After the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) faced defeat in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, party president and Chief Minister MK Stalin has accepted the public’s decision. He emphasized that the party will play a significant role as the main opposition over the next five years.
Stalin took to social media platform ‘X’ to acknowledge the election results. He congratulated the winning candidates and stated that the DMK will now serve as a model for the opposition.
“We respect the people’s decision. Congratulations to the winners! Over the past five years, we have completed numerous projects and provided good governance in Tamil Nadu. We sought votes based on our achievements and aimed to continue welfare programs,” he wrote.
Expressing gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu, Stalin said, “I sincerely thank everyone who voted for the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, as well as those who may have forgotten to vote. I have always acted on the voice of my conscience and worked harder than my capacity.”
He extended special thanks to party workers, allied parties, and leaders of the Friendship Movement. “To my dear comrades who fought alongside me, thank you very much,” he added.
Reflecting on his political journey, the former Chief Minister noted, “I have witnessed significant victories and faced defeats. Therefore, I believe that ideals and policies hold more importance than mere wins and losses.”
Stalin further stated, “The political journey of the DMK will continue unabated. The party, which has served as an ideal ruling party for the people, will now set an example in its role as the opposition.”
