Mitchell Marsh Sets Record with Fastest IPL Half-Century

Lucknow, May 7: In the 50th match of IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. LSG’s batsman Mitchell Marsh showcased an explosive performance, scoring a half-century in just 20 balls.

This marks the fastest half-century in IPL history for Marsh. Additionally, he has now secured the record for the second-fastest half-century at Ekana Stadium. The record for the fastest half-century at this venue is held by Abhishek Sharma, who achieved his fifty in just 18 balls.

Marsh has also become the joint third-fastest batsman to score a half-century for LSG in IPL. The record for the fastest half-century for the team is held by Nicholas Pooran, who completed his fifty in just 15 balls against RCB in 2023.

For this match, LSG made three significant changes to their playing eleven. Josh Inglis, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan were ruled out due to injuries. Arshin Kulkarni replaced Inglis, while Shahbaz Ahmed was brought in for Mohsin. Digvyesh Rathi took Avesh’s place in the match against RCB. Despite their recent loss, RCB made no changes to their lineup.

To keep their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2026, LSG must secure a victory in this match. So far, they have only won 2 out of 9 matches, suffering losses in 7. The team’s batting performance this season has been notably disappointing.
