MI look to script turnaround against RCB

Pune, April 8 : Mumbai Indians, who are too good at scripting turnarounds over the years, would be itching to do it this season too, beginning against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 18th match of IPL at MCA here on Saturday. MI would look to focus on contributing as a t, rather than expecting far too much from their top names to fire, which has been their undoing so far in the season. They had a very poor start to this IPL as they lost all their three matches on the trot and hence are placed at ninth position on the points table. MI lost their last match to Kolkata Knight Riders, even though they had posted 161 for 4. Suryakumar Yadav, who played the first match this season, slammed 52, while Tilak Verma cracked an unbeaten 38, but it was not enough for the team. Biggest disappointment for MI has been skipper Rohit Sharma. Though he started off the season with 41, in the next two innings he scored a mere 10 and 3. Ishan Kishan has been a revelation at the top for MI. In the three innings so far, the opener has smashed two fifty-plus scores – 81 and 54. Tilak also has caught the imagination of the fans, including expert commentators. The young turk has 22, 61 and 38 scores to his credit, giving a cushion in the middle order. Dewald Brevis, in the last encounter, showed glimpses of why he is called ‘Baby AB’ when he made a good contribution after he was replaced with Singaporean hot-chip Tim David. Kieron Pollard was in murderous mood in the last match. He made a five-ball unbeaten 22-run cameo. MI would be hoping that the big boy gets bigger scores for the team. MI’s batting has been on song, but their bowling has been an issue, and they need to fire as soon as possible. Basil Thampi and Murugan Ashwin have been struggling, but very disappointing have been Australia’s Daniel Sams and Tymal Mills. Pat Cummins put Sams to sword as he smoked 4 sixes and 2 boundaries, garnering 35 runs in 16th over and racing to register a record-equalling fastest IPL fifty. Jasprit Bumrah, MI’s trump card over the years, also leaked too many runs against KKR. On the other hand, RCB have played three matches so far and won two games and lost one. They are placed at sixth spot with four points. RCB captain Faf du Plessis and Shahbaz Ahmed have looked in good nick. Dinesh Karthik has been a revelation in death overs. Virat Kohli, however, has been getting some runs, but RCB would hope he comes up with a big score. RCB’s Glenn Maxwell is now available for selection after tying knot with his Indian-origin girlfriend in Melbourne. In the bowling department, Wanindu Hasaranga has been in great form. David Willey and Harshal Patel, on the other hand, would like to blow fire as they have not been impressive so far. RCB also would hope Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep too fire.
