Mercedes-Benz India Records Best-Ever Annual Sales with Significant Growth in EVs
Mercedes-Benz India has achieved its best-ever annual sales performance in FY2025, marking a landmark year with 18,928 units sold. This growth has been driven by a combination of new product launches, network enhancements, and an unwavering commitment to elevating the customer experience. Notably, Mercedes-Benz has witnessed impressive growth in the luxury vehicle segment, alongside a 51% increase in sales of its electric vehicles (EVs).
Top-End Luxury Segment Drives Growth
One of the key highlights for Mercedes-Benz India in FY2025 was the 34% growth in the top-end luxury vehicle segment. This includes the iconic S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS SUV, and the AMG range. As a result, one out of every four cars sold by the brand in India was from its premium line-up. Popular models in this segment, such as the S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach Night Series, the G 580 with EQ Technology, and the EQS SUV, have been in high demand, leading to extended waiting periods for these models. The AMG G 63, in particular, has seen waiting times of up to a year.
Despite the strong demand in the luxury segment, Mercedes-Benzโs core models โ the C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC, and GLE SUVs โ remained the best-sellers. The E-Class LWB continues to be the brandโs top performer in India, with the EQS SUV emerging as the best-selling electric vehicle in FY2025.
Mercedes-Benz Shifts Focus Toward EV Growth
Electric vehicles have been a major focus for Mercedes-Benz India in FY2025, with EV sales growing by an impressive 51%. EVs now account for 7% of the automakerโs total sales, with models like the EQS Maybach Night Series and G 580 SUV with EQ Technology contributing to this increase. Mercedes has seen significant demand for these electric vehicles in the luxury segment, with the waiting period for some models reaching up to 12 months.
The companyโs efforts to enhance its EV offering are reflected in its expansion plans for its retail network. Mercedes-Benz India is set to invest โน450 crores through its Franchise Partners to further expand its presence in both emerging markets and existing metropolitan areas, ensuring that the brand continues to deliver the latest global luxury standards in its retail experiences.
Q1 2025: A Dip in Entry-Level Sales
While Mercedes-Benz India concluded FY2025 on a strong note, the first quarter of 2025 saw a decline in sales, with total units sold standing at 4,775 โ an 11.8% decrease compared to the previous quarter. This drop was largely attributed to a 28% decline in the entry-level luxury segment, which includes models like the GLA and A-Class. However, the top-end luxury segment saw a 6% increase in demand, which signifies a shift toward more premium offerings.
On a positive note, the companyโs electric vehicle sales continued to rise, with EVs accounting for 8% of the total sales in Q1 FY2025. The locally assembled EQS SUV 580 and EQS SUV 480 models played a crucial role in maintaining growth momentum in the electric vehicle sector.
Mercedes-Benz Indiaโs Future Outlook
Mercedes-Benz India remains confident about the future prospects of the Indian market. The brandโs focus on customer satisfaction, coupled with investments in its retail network and product portfolio, positions it well for sustained growth. The strong demand for both luxury and electric vehicles indicates that Mercedes-Benz is on track to further solidify its leadership position in Indiaโs luxury automobile market.
