Memorial Service Held for Martyrs of Ram Temple Movement in Ayodhya

A memorial service was held in Ayodhya to honor the martyrs of the Ram Temple movement, marking the tragic events of November 2, 1990.

Ayodhya, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : A memorial service was held in Ayodhya on November 2 to honor the martyrs of the Ram Temple movement, who lost their lives during a police firing on this day in 1990. The event took place at the Digambar Akhara, attended by members of the Ram Temple Religious Committee, including Rajkumar Das, Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi, and Minister Surya Pratap Shahi.

Rajkumar Das expressed his sentiments, stating, “Every year, fairs will be held at the graves of the martyrs. This is the mark left by those who died for their country.” He emphasized the significance of the movement for the liberation of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives.

Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi remarked that the memorial service was held to honor the karsevaks who sacrificed their lives for the Ram Temple. He noted that high-ranking saints and mahants of Ayodhya participated in the tribute, reflecting on the tragic events of that day when political aspirations led to violence against unarmed devotees.

Minister Surya Pratap Shahi described the incidents of October 30 and November 2, 1990, as a dark chapter in Indian history, when the streets of Ayodhya were stained with the blood of karsevaks. He paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

The memorial service served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during the struggle for the Ram Temple, now a symbol of faith and resilience for many in India.
