Meerut, February 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Meerut Rapid Metro on Sunday, dedicating it to the public. The launch created an atmosphere of excitement in the city.

On the first day, a large number of people arrived with their families to experience the new metro service. Long queues formed at ticket counters, and many passengers faced difficulties obtaining tickets due to the heavy crowd.

Passengers displayed notable enthusiasm, taking selfies from the station premises to inside the metro coaches. Many shared videos of their entire journey on social media, calling the day a memorable one.

While some travelers noted that the fare is slightly higher, they agreed that the amenities and comfort justify the cost. Residents believe that the Meerut Rapid Metro will not only make travel easier and faster but will also accelerate the city’s development.

Elderly passenger Manjeet Singh, who came to get a card at the station, remarked, “Its look is even better than world-class. I didn’t expect such quality from the government, but the work done is commendable. I thank the government.”

Rohit, traveling with his son from the Gogol area, mentioned that he previously used a scooter, which took a lot of time due to traffic jams. Now, he finds the metro experience excellent and time-saving. Other passengers also described their metro journeys as comfortable and convenient.

Traveler Sahib Alam, who was en route to Modipuram for work, expressed that his trip was extremely pleasant. He felt as if he were traveling abroad, praising the interior design and cleanliness. “I want to thank the Prime Minister,” he added.

Another passenger, Manav Sharma, reported traveling from Begumpul and appreciated the staff’s behavior. He noted that this service will provide significant relief to the residents of Meerut. Many passengers also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calling it a major achievement for the state.
