Bareilly, February 5: Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, the national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has commented on the recent controversy involving actor Naseeruddin Shah. Shah was invited to an event at a university but was later uninvited. However, the event organizers stated that the actor declined to attend.

In light of the accusations exchanged between both parties, Maulana Razvi expressed his disapproval. He stated that if such treatment was indeed directed at the actor, it reflects signs of communalism or extremism. “Naseeruddin Shah is a well-known figure in India, and if someone speaks out, they should be heard. Not everything should be labeled as treason. There are limits to what can be classified as treason. If someone’s statement crosses that limit, then it can be addressed; otherwise, it cannot be forced into that category. This is the beauty of India’s Constitution, which allows everyone to express their views freely before the government,” he said.

He further emphasized, “Criticism of the government falls within constitutional rights. It cannot be deemed as treason. However, if there is criticism regarding what happened to Naseeruddin Shah at Mumbai University, then it indicates communalism or extremism.”

Additionally, Maulana Razvi praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, stating that he does not harass Muslims like the Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand and Assam. He noted that Adityanath focuses on development and aims to make Uttar Pradesh an exemplary state, ensuring that government schemes reach the people. “He sees no difference between Hindus and Muslims, which is why a significant number of Muslims support him,” Razvi added.

He also clarified that the Chief Minister has neither ordered the closure of madrasas nor blocked them. “Any incidents that have occurred are related to orders from the High Court or District Court. The Chief Minister has not issued any such orders,” he concluded.
