Kolkata, February 16: The political landscape in West Bengal is heating up as the assembly elections approach. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has sharply criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that her opposition to the SIR (Systematic Voter Registration) reveals her true intentions.
During a rally in Hooghly on Monday, Tiwari urged the public to rectify the shortcomings of the previous assembly elections. He emphasized the need for a decisive change in the current state of Bengal, stating that the TMC government’s exit is crucial for progress.
In a conversation with the media, Tiwari remarked that Banerjee’s resistance to SIR exposes her real face. He clarified that SIR is neither a flawed nor a new initiative. Its purpose is to eliminate fraudulent or fake voters, restore names that were wrongfully removed, and remove deceased individuals from the voter list. He questioned the objections to the Election Commission‘s efforts to correct voter details, asserting that foreign nationals cannot become voters in India, even if they manage to obtain voter cards deceitfully.
Tiwari further asserted that the issues in West Bengal are not merely minor flaws; they reflect a deeper problem. He called for support for SIR, respecting all communities, and criticized those who oppose it as having questionable intentions. He accused Banerjee of being involved in corruption, urging for its eradication.
Addressing the sensitive topic of the Babri Masjid, Tiwari stated that the aspirations of certain individuals would never materialize. He affirmed that the people of West Bengal are not aligned with Babur but are devoted to their own cultural heritage and traditions, vowing that they will respond firmly to such provocations.
