Manoj Muntashir Praises Chiraiya, Advocates for Sensitivity in Society

Mumbai, May 4: Renowned lyricist and writer Manoj Muntashir typically refrains from recommending films or web series. However, he has made an exception for the web series ‘Chiraiya’, currently streaming on Jio Hotstar.

In a recent Instagram post, Muntashir emphasized the importance of watching this show. He clarified that he has no personal ties to it. Amidst a sea of absurd crime dramas and low-quality comedies, ‘Chiraiya’ focuses on the genuine narratives of home, family, and society. He stressed that art and literature carry a responsibility towards society.

Citing films like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘3 Idiots’, and ‘Pink’, Muntashir noted how these works have boldly addressed social issues. He believes that OTT platforms must also recognize their social responsibilities. He praised ‘Chiraiya’ writer Divyanidhi Sharma as one of the powerful writers of our time, fulfilling his duty through his craft. Muntashir also commended director Shashant Shah for setting a new standard of sensitivity in storytelling, stating that each scene feels lived by the writer and director.

He lauded actress Prasanna for holding her own against formidable talents like Divya Dutta. The series successfully conveys a strong message alongside these exceptional performances. Muntashir highlighted how ‘Chiraiya’ challenges and breaks the age-old adage that “a woman is her own enemy.”

The show offers a fresh and positive perspective on the relationship between sisters-in-law. Muntashir expressed his sorrow over how sacred relationships like ‘bhabi’ are misrepresented in vulgar songs, noting that this show serves as a balm for that issue.

He firmly stated that marriage is not a license, and society still struggles to grasp this simple truth. ‘Chiraiya’ inspires us to become better, more sensitive, and responsible individuals and communities. Although he acknowledged that some scenes may be unsettling, he insisted that life is not a chocolate gift pack; confronting harsh realities is essential. He concluded with a strong recommendation: ‘Chiraiya’ is highly recommended.
