Ranchi, May 15: In a shocking incident in the Nichitoli village of the Tamar police station area, a man was brutally murdered by his brother-in-law during a domestic dispute. The police acted swiftly and apprehended the accused.
The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Gajendra Singh, a resident of Rania in Khunti district. Reports indicate that Gajendra had visited his in-laws in Nichitoli with his wife on Thursday. The conflict began when the accused, Bhupesh Khandit, took control of all the household utensils and refused to cook, insisting that the guests should leave.
On Friday morning, when Bhupesh’s younger sister requested utensils for cooking and fetching water, the disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation. It is alleged that in a fit of rage, Bhupesh attacked Gajendra with a ‘dauli’ (sharp weapon) and then struck his head with a large stone from the courtyard, resulting in Gajendra’s immediate death.
Bhupesh’s younger sister, who attempted to intervene, also sustained minor injuries. After committing the crime, the accused locked himself in a room to hide. Upon receiving the information, Tamar police station chief Praveen Kumar Modi arrived at the scene with a police team and forced open the door to arrest Bhupesh.
According to the police, the accused has a prior record of attempted murder. Given the severity of the incident, a forensic science team from Ranchi was dispatched to collect scientific evidence. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a thorough investigation is underway.
