Man Arrested for Brutal Murder of Woman in Goa Over Family Dispute

Mumbai, May 21: In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested a man involved in the brutal murder of a woman in Bicholim, Goa, along with the theft of her jewelry. The Crime Disclosure Branch of Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar Police acted swiftly, apprehending the fugitive suspect. Authorities recovered items worth ₹1,11,000, including the victim’s gold chain and mobile phone.

According to police officials, the accused, 34-year-old Sagar Ramesh Raoul, had expressed a desire to marry the complainant’s younger sister. However, the complainant’s mother, Sheila Ghadi (58), opposed this relationship. This led to a grudge against her. On May 19, between 11 AM and 3 PM, Raoul entered the complainant’s home in the Chikne Kudne area of North Goa and brutally murdered Sheila Ghadi.

After the murder, the suspect fled the scene with the victim’s gold chain and mobile phone. A case was registered at the Bicholim police station in Goa. Given the seriousness of the incident, police formed a special team to capture the suspect, intensifying their search efforts.

Based on technical analysis and intelligence, the police team apprehended Sagar Ramesh Raoul in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. They recovered the victim’s gold chain and mobile phone from his possession.

Raoul has been handed over to the Bicholim police for further legal action. The Goa police are continuing their investigation into the case.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik, Additional Police Commissioner Dattatray Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode, and Assistant Police Commissioner Madan Ballal. The successful execution of this operation was led by Police Inspector Pramod Badakh, Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Gangurde, and their entire team.
