Mamata expresses outrage at WB BJP

Darjeeling (WB), March 30 : West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday expressed outrage over the report of state BJP in Bagtui incident submitted to the party’s all-India president Jagat Prakash Nadda. Addressing media, Banerjee said, “We have fully assisted in the investigation. However, the BJP leaders who came to Bogtui village near Rampurhat in Birbhum district reported to the party president. Such reports could weaken the investigation and it could be misused for political purposes.” Banerjee accused that the report mentions the name of TMC Birbhum district president Anubrata Mondal, which “clearly shows the vindictive attitude of the BJP”. He fired directly at the BJP, saying “there should be no political influence during the investigation. That is an abuse of power. Referring to Anubrat Mandal in the BJP’s report, Banerjee said, “The BJP wants the Trinamool district president to be arrested. The report is vindictive. Such vengeful politics will be carried out against all parties who speak out against the BJP.” The Chief Minister has also expressed his displeasure over this issue. Banerjee questioned the purpose of preparing the report of the members of the political party. Initially, the report sharply criticized the role of the state government in Bogtui incident. The report also claimed that mafia rule has been established in Bengal. Not only that, the report also mentions the support of the state government in this case. “West Bengal is now ruled by the Mafia. It has the full support of the state’s police and political leadership,” the report said. A BJP fact-finding committee headed by state BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar that returned from the site of Birbhum carnage slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal calling it nothing less than “mafia” that is ruling the state in connivance with police and the political leadership. Majumdar said “law abiding citizens of West Bengal have lost faith in the government and the mode of governance by the TMC, as law officers themselves have become cogs in the TMC hierarchy.” “Under Trinamool Congress leadership, Mafia is ruling West Bengal in connivance with police and political leadership. The law and order machinery has totally collapsed,” the report said. Following the Birbhum violence, BJP chief JP Nadda had formed a five-member fact-finding committee comprising four former IPS officers and West Bengal state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar. Bharati Ghosh, Satya Pal Singh, KC Ramamurthy and Brijlal are the four former IPS officers who were part of the committee. The toll in the Birbhum carnage on Monday rose to nine as one more injured woman succumbed to burn injuries. She along with several others had suffered burns in a petrol bomb attack in Bogtui village of Birbhum district last week that led to unruly scenes in the State Assembly as well. On March 21 dawn eight people were burnt to death when unknown assailants attacked some 10 houses in Bogtui near Rampurhat with petrol bombs setting them ablaze. BM KK
