Mumbai witnessed a tragic incident at the busy Malad railway station on Saturday night, when a minor argument escalated into a fatal stabbing. The attack occurred between 9 and 10 pm on Platform No. 1 as passengers were disembarking from a local train. Alok Kumar Singh, the victim, sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to them during treatment.
According to police reports, the deceased has been identified as Alok Kumar Singh, a mathematics teacher at a college in Vile Parle. He is reportedly the son of a security personnel assigned to the country’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh. Alok was travelling by local train from Vile Parle towards Malad when a small dispute arose with two other passengers at Malad station, which quickly intensified.
Eyewitnesses stated that the disagreement turned violent, leading one of the accused to stab Alok Kumar Singh in the abdomen with a sharp weapon. The sudden attack caused panic across the station premises. Bloodied and critically wounded, Alok was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors admitted him immediately. Despite medical efforts, he died during treatment.
Railway Police and local law enforcement responded promptly to the incident and launched an investigation. The Borivali Railway Police registered a murder case and reviewed CCTV footage from the station to identify the suspects. In a joint operation, Railway Police and Mumbai Police arrested one accused, Omkar Shinde (27), a resident of Malad East, from the Vasai area late at night. Interrogations are ongoing, and the search for other involved individuals continues.
