Major Split in Aam Aadmi Party as Raghav Chadha Resigns with Two Rajya Sabha MPs

New Delhi, April 24: In a significant blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha announced his resignation along with two other MPs on Friday. Chadha, along with fellow Rajya Sabha members Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, has decided to leave the party and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Chadha expressed serious concerns about AAP’s deviation from its core principles. He stated, “The party I nurtured for 15 years has lost its way. It now operates not for the nation’s benefit but for personal gains.”

He emphasized that all leaders had worked hard to expand AAP in Delhi, Punjab, and other states, but circumstances have changed. “I am distancing myself from AAP and returning to the people,” he added.

On joining the BJP, Chadha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting that the central government has made bold decisions over the past 12 years that many leaders previously feared to undertake. “The public has endorsed this leadership three times, and now we will work for the nation under this leadership,” he stated.

Chadha mentioned that AAP has ten Rajya Sabha MPs, and more than two-thirds of them support this initiative. He confirmed that they had submitted all necessary documents, including signed letters, to the Rajya Sabha Chairman. “More than two-thirds of MPs are backing us, and we will soon provide a complete list,” he said, indicating that several notable figures, including world-class cricketer Harbhajan Singh, are also part of this movement.

He concluded by sharing his feelings of being in the wrong party, which led to his decision to part ways with AAP.

Sandeep Pathak also expressed his sentiments, stating, “I never imagined I would face such a situation, but today I announce the end of all my ties with AAP. Coming from a farming family, I have always aimed to contribute meaningfully to the country.”
