Major Shake-Up in Lucknow Police Amid Shiva Sharma Murder Case

Police in Lucknow face scrutiny as key officers are reassigned following the ongoing investigation into the murder of Shiva Sharma.

Lucknow, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : In a significant development in the high-profile Shiva Sharma murder case, police in Lucknow have taken decisive action amid growing concerns over their handling of the investigation. The police department has reassigned Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vikrant Veer to the police headquarters, while Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma has been moved from his position and given the role of ACP Crime.

This shake-up comes as the police continue to face criticism for their failure to apprehend model Shraddha Dubey, who is wanted in connection with the case and has a bounty of ₹50,000 on her head. Questions about the police’s effectiveness have intensified, especially with Dubey still at large nearly ten days after Sharma’s death.

In addition to the reassignments of DCP and ACP, there have been changes in the jurisdictions of four other ACPs within the Lucknow Commissionerate. Prior to this, Vikram Singh, the officer in charge of the Hazratganj police station, was suspended. The recent administrative changes are seen as a move towards accountability in the ongoing investigation.

As the police make these changes, all eyes are on the hunt for the fugitive Shraddha Dubey. Under the orders of the police commissioner, ACP Abhishek Kumar Pandey has been appointed as the new ACP for Hazratganj. Rajneesh Verma has taken over responsibilities for ACP Crime, while Gaurav Upadhyay has been assigned to ACP Kaiserbagh, and Ankit Kumar has been tasked with additional duties at the Metropolitan office.

Despite these measures, the challenge of capturing Shraddha Dubey remains significant. In a recent statement, Dubey claimed that Shiva Sharma’s death was not a murder but a suicide, attributing it to his financial troubles. She insists that an examination of CCTV footage will prove her innocence and has denied any involvement in the incident. However, her assertions have yet to be independently verified.

Dubey also mentioned that Sharma had stayed at her residence two months prior and acknowledged that jewelry had been stolen during that time, though she downplayed the significance of the theft. She urged the police to investigate the CCTV footage to clarify the sequence of events surrounding Sharma’s death.
