Major Reshuffle of IAS Officers in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, May 22: The Tamil Nadu government has announced a significant administrative order involving a large-scale reshuffle and new postings of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. This reshuffle affects various departments, boards, and district administrations.

Sandhya Venugopal Sharma has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary in the Planning and Development Department. Previously, she served as the Additional Chief Secretary and Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation.

Former Commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation, J. Kumargurubaran, has been designated as the Secretary of Commercial Taxes, Registration, and the Department of Religious and Charitable Endowments. S. Swarna has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Tourism, Culture, and Special Initiatives Department.

Sandeep Nanduri is now the Special Secretary in the Department of Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce, while Mariyam Pallavi Baldev has been removed from her position. In another significant change, G. Prakash has been appointed as the Principal Secretary and Additional Commissioner in the newly created post for Revenue Administration and Disaster Management.

V. Shobhana has been designated as the Commissioner of Textiles, while Shilpa Prabhakar Satish has been appointed as the Labour Commissioner. Changes have also occurred in the Urban Planning and Transport Department, with Kiran Gurrala now serving as the Commissioner of the Department of Town and Country Planning. B. Ganeshan, who previously held this position, has been removed.

After returning from leave, K. Vijayakarthikeyan has been appointed as the Director of the Fisheries Department and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation. Additionally, Mageshwari Ravikumar has been designated as the Director of the Social Welfare Department, and K. Senthil Raj has been appointed as the Director of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department.

D. Pandian has been appointed as the Director of the Transport and Road Safety Department, while T. Charusree has been designated as the Director of the Treasury and Accounts Department. In district administration, G. Ravikumar has been appointed as the Collector of Tirupattur district, replacing K. Shiva Soundaravalli, who is going on leave.

Other significant appointments include Asha Ajith as the Director of the Environment and Climate Change Department. The government has also deployed several officers to key institutions such as the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation, National Health Mission, and Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project.

Furthermore, the government has granted equal status to several new posts under the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016, to ensure balance and equity within the administrative framework.
