
Chennai, May 4: A significant political upheaval has occurred in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Chief Minister MK Stalin faced defeat in the Kolathur constituency, marking a major setback for the DMK and signaling a dramatic shift in the state’s political landscape.
This shocking loss comes amid the remarkable rise of the actor-turned-politician Vijay‘s party, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). VS Babu of TVK secured victory in Kolathur, garnering 68,419 votes and defeating Stalin by a margin of 7,731 votes.
TVK candidate Vijay Dhamu also achieved an unexpected win in the Royapuram constituency, where he triumphed over AIADMK veteran leader and former minister D. Jayakumar, as well as DMK’s Subair Khan, son of former minister Rahman Khan.
This victory is widely viewed as a symbol of grassroots empowerment and a clear message from voters seeking change.
As TVK’s impressive performance became evident, a flood of congratulatory messages poured in from both the political and entertainment spheres. Actress Kajal Aggarwal praised Vijay’s remarkable and impactful win, referencing one of his iconic film dialogues to highlight the breadth of public support.
In a post on X, she described the result as a testament to his vision, determination, and deep connection with the people.
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh also congratulated Vijay, stating that the results reflect the evolving aspirations of Tamil Nadu’s electorate. He further noted that the rise of TVK adds a new dimension to the state’s political dynamics and expressed hope that Vijay will meet public expectations with responsibility and commitment.
Meanwhile, AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami appeared poised for a significant personal victory.
