Ranchi, May 17: In a significant crackdown on long-evading criminals and fugitives, Ranchi police launched a large-scale operation on Saturday night. Dubbed ‘Operation Prahar’, the initiative resulted in the arrest of over 100 criminals across the city and surrounding areas.
Additionally, the police executed more than 150 pending warrants related to various cases. According to police officials, several criminals had been on the run for an extended period in different police station jurisdictions. To address this issue, Ranchi’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Ranjan, devised a special strategy and initiated a coordinated operation across all police stations late Saturday night.
During the operation, police teams from nearly all stations conducted raids at identified locations within their respective areas. The sudden nature of the action left many criminals with no opportunity to flee or hide. The police detained over 100 accused individuals named in various cases. They also swiftly acted on non-bailable and other pending warrants, executing more than 150 warrants in total.
According to police sources, the arrested individuals face charges including murder, assault, theft, extortion, and other criminal offenses. Following the overnight operation, all necessary paperwork and legal procedures concerning the detainees have been completed.
Ranchi police stated that such special operations will continue in the district to control crime and apprehend fugitives. All arrested individuals will be presented in court on Sunday, where the process for judicial custody and transfer to jail will be finalized.
