Dhamtari, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, have made a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal drug trafficking through “Operation Nishchay.” On September 19, police arrested three individuals in possession of 21.51 grams of heroin, valued at approximately ₹1.02 lakh.
The operation unfolded around 6:20 PM when the Kurud police received a tip-off about suspicious individuals seeking customers near the Invention School intersection on Megha Road. Acting swiftly, senior officers were informed, and a police team was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers cordoned off the area and apprehended three suspects. A search revealed not only the heroin but also cash, two motorcycles, and four mobile phones, bringing the total estimated value of the seized items to ₹3.65 lakh.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Ghanashyam Sinha (24), also known as Ghanasu Sinha, from Kalara Para, Kurud; Dhaleindra Rajak (24), known as Bau, from Nayapara, Dhamtari; and Suraj Rajak (29), also from Nayapara, Bajrang Chowk, Dhamtari. Following their arrest, the trio was charged and remanded to judicial custody.
This operation, conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Bhavna Pandey and Additional Superintendent of Police D.C. Patel, has been hailed as one of the largest drug seizures in the district to date.
Dhamtari police have emphasized their ongoing commitment to combat drug trafficking and sales in the region. Investigations are underway to uncover connections to broader drug networks, and authorities are keeping a close watch on suspicious activities.
The police have urged the public to report any information related to drug sales or trafficking immediately.
