Major Drug and Arms Trafficking Network Busted in Amritsar; Eight Arrested
Punjab Police dismantled a drug and arms trafficking network in Amritsar, arresting eight individuals and seizing firearms and heroin.

Amritsar, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Punjab Police achieved a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug and arms trafficking in Amritsar. On Friday, officers from the Amritsar Commissionerate apprehended eight individuals linked to an organized smuggling network.
Authorities seized 11 pistols, four live cartridges, and 2.293 kilograms of heroin from the suspects. Initial investigations revealed that the arrested individuals were in contact with handlers based abroad, who facilitated the supply of illegal firearms to criminal elements in the region.
The police have filed three separate FIRs against the accused in the Cheherhta and A-Division police station areas. Investigations are ongoing to identify other associates involved in the network and to trace its foreign connections.
Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) emphasized the commitment of the police to eradicate networks involved in illegal arms and drug trafficking. He assured the public that stringent actions would continue to ensure a safe and drug-free state.
This operation follows a previous success on October 27, when Punjab’s Counter Intelligence (CI) in Amritsar dismantled a weapons smuggling module, arresting three traffickers and seizing ten modern pistols. DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that these efforts are part of ongoing initiatives to curb the influx of illegal arms from across the border.
