
New Delhi, May 19: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal liquor trafficking. A supplier was apprehended with 1,200 quarters of illicit alcohol, along with a vehicle used for smuggling.
According to a press release from the police on Tuesday, the ANTF received a tip-off on May 15. They learned that a man named Anand would arrive at the J and K Block area of Dilshad Garden around 7:30 PM, delivering a shipment of illegal liquor in a white Hyundai Accent. Based on this information, a special team was formed under Inspector Vinod Kumar, including Sub-Inspector Dheer Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shokinder, Head Constable Vikas Malik, Rajesh Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, Vedpal, and Constable Arjun. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Vivek Vihar and DCP Shahdara.
The police team set up a blockade near Main Road, J and K Block, Dilshad Garden, and successfully apprehended the suspect. Upon searching the vehicle, a large quantity of illegal alcohol was discovered hidden inside. The police seized 1,200 quarters of 180 ML liquor and took possession of the vehicle used for transportation.
An FIR has been registered under the Delhi Excise Act, Section 33/58, at the Seemapuri police station, with FIR number 337/2026. The arrested individual has been identified as Anand (33), a resident of Karkardooma in Delhi.
During interrogation, Anand revealed that he had turned to the illegal liquor supply and transportation business due to financial difficulties. He also named several others involved in this network. The police are now focused on uncovering the entire supply chain and the active network behind it. Further investigations are ongoing.
