Bhopal, June 17: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched a significant operation against drug trafficking and the illegal transport of fireworks in the Bhopal Rail Division of the West Central Railway. According to railway authorities, the RPF and the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) conducted a security and vigilance inspection during the “Mission Suraksha” initiative to enhance rail operations and passenger safety.
During this operation, 22 packets of combustible fireworks were seized from an individual aboard train number 22161 (Bhopal-Damoh State Rani Express) at Bhopal station. The estimated value of the confiscated materials is approximately ₹33,420, and a case has been registered under the Railways Act.
In a related effort against drug trafficking, a joint operation by the RPF in Itarsi and the civil police at Pathrota led to the arrest of a woman and two men traveling on train number 12409 (Gondwana Express) with illegal narcotics (ganja). A total of 20 kilograms and 575 grams of ganja were seized, valued at around ₹4.60 lakh.
Additionally, as part of the ongoing “Operation Passenger Safety,” the RPF CIB, in collaboration with the GRP Itarsi, successfully uncovered a case of passenger luggage theft. One suspect was arrested, and a stolen mobile phone worth approximately ₹60,000 was recovered and returned to the complainant.
Senior DCM Saurabh Kataria stated that the RPF in the Bhopal Division is continuously conducting special operations to ensure passenger safety, protect railway property, and effectively control crime and trafficking. Through modern technology, vigilant monitoring, and coordinated actions with various agencies, the RPF is committed to providing a safe and reliable rail travel experience for passengers.
