Major Action in Real Estate Sector: Ansal Hightech Director Arrested for Debt Recovery
The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has arrested a director of Ansal Hightech for failing to pay outstanding dues despite regulatory mandates.

Gautam Buddh Nagar, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has taken significant steps to recover outstanding debts in the real estate sector. Following the issuance of recovery certificates by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), the administration arrested a director of Ansal Hightech Townships Limited for failing to pay millions in overdue amounts.
A joint team from the police and revenue department apprehended the director, identified as Bunty, son of Prahlad, and presented him before the sub-district magistrate of Dadri. After the hearing, he was sent to district jail in Gautam Buddh Nagar for a maximum of 15 days due to his failure to pay the dues and provide adequate security.
According to district officials, a special recovery campaign is currently underway under the direction of the district magistrate. This initiative specifically targets builders and companies that have not settled their outstanding amounts despite RERA’s recovery certificates.
The administration has made it clear that strict legal action will be taken against these defaulters moving forward. The sub-district magistrate of Dadri reported that Ansal Hightech Townships Limited and Uttam Steels Associates Limited owe a total of ₹77,66,80,434, along with applicable interest.
This amount is to be collected as land revenue dues. The respective firm was issued a demand notice in accordance with regulations, which was duly served. However, the company failed to pay the outstanding amount within the stipulated timeframe, prompting the district administration to initiate arrest proceedings under Section 171 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006, and related provisions.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant (RC Form-37) for non-payment, the police and revenue department team acted on October 30, apprehending Bunty, the director of Ansal Hightech Townships Limited/Uttam Steels Associates Limited.
After his arrest, he was brought before the sub-district magistrate, who allowed him the opportunity to present his case and either pay the outstanding amount or provide sufficient security. However, during the hearing, he neither paid the dues nor offered adequate security, leading to the order for his detention.
In compliance with this order, he has been sent to the district jail in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The superintendent of the jail has been instructed to take necessary action regarding this matter. The district administration has sent a clear message that recovery certificates issued under RERA will be taken seriously.
No unnecessary leniency will be granted to any defaulter in revenue recovery cases. The administration stated that if debtors fail to pay their dues despite being given ample opportunity, they will face severe legal actions, including property seizure, auction, and arrest. The administration has urged all debtors in the Dadri tehsil to ensure immediate payment of their outstanding dues in relation to pending recovery certificates. Failure to comply will result in stringent actions against the individuals and entities involved.
