Main Accused Arrested in Minor Girls Suicide Case in Lucknow, Officer Suspended for Negligence

In Lucknow, police have arrested the main suspect in a minor girls suicide case and suspended an officer for negligence in handling a prior complaint.

Lucknow, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Police in Lucknow have made significant progress in the tragic case of a minor girl’s suicide in the Ramgarha village of the Malihabad area. The main accused has been arrested following the registration of a case, while the officer responsible for not addressing a prior complaint has been suspended.

On November 2, 2026, authorities received reports of a young girl who had taken her own life. Responding quickly, police arrived at the scene and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Female sub-inspector Aashi Gupta completed the necessary documentation for the investigation.

Based on the family’s complaint, a case has been filed against Hans Kumar, his brother Vinay Kumar, their father Shyam Sundar, and their mother Ram Lalli. The family alleges that Hans Kumar had been threatening and pressuring the girl to accompany him. They also claim that approximately five months prior, Hans and his family physically assaulted the girl’s father, Ram Lakhan. The two families are not only neighbors but also relatives, with shared familial ties.

The family further contends that they reported the earlier assault to the local police station, but no effective action was taken by the then in-charge officer. Taking this complaint seriously, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Malihabad conducted an investigation. The inquiry revealed negligence on the part of sub-inspector Vivek Kumar, leading to his immediate suspension by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North). A departmental inquiry is also underway against him.

As for the suicide case, police have confirmed the arrest of Hans Kumar as the main suspect. Investigations into the other allegations and further legal actions are ongoing.
