Mumbai, 26 January – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed strong confidence on the 77th Republic Day that the state is poised to become a driving force behind India’s national economy.
Addressing the main Republic Day ceremony held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan in Dadar, the Chief Minister emphasised that Maharashtra’s progress is rooted in constitutional values and democratic strength.
Highlighting the state’s recent economic achievements, Fadnavis said India is rapidly advancing to become the world’s third-largest economy. He noted that at the recently concluded World Economic Forum in Davos, Maharashtra signed investment agreements worth ₹30 lakh crore, underlining the state’s growing role as the backbone of India’s economy in the years ahead.
The Chief Minister further stated that Maharashtra will continue to advance under the guidance of the Constitution, remaining “dynamic and invincible.”
Starting the ceremony by hoisting the national tricolour and paying tribute to Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar, Fadnavis acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the Constitution Drafting Committee. He said the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity are deeply embedded in Indian culture and reflected in the Constitution.
Outlining several achievements and future goals for the state, Fadnavis said the government is committed to making Maharashtra drought-free through river-linking projects in agriculture and irrigation. He also pointed out that Maharashtra leads the country in solar agricultural feeders and solar pumps.
In the housing sector, under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, a record 30 lakh homes are being constructed in rural areas. Social welfare initiatives such as the ‘Ladki Behan’ scheme and free electricity for farmers are being implemented to promote inclusive development across all sections of society.
The Republic Day celebrations included a grand parade led by Indian Navy Commander Pankaj Baghel.
