Maharashtra reports over 20k COVID cases, 8 deaths

Mumbai : The COVID surge continued across Maharashtra on Wednesday as the state recorded more than 20,000 new cases and eight deaths.

According to official data, as many as 26,538 new patients were found across the state. With the new additions in pandemic figures, the state’s cumulative COVID tally soared to 67,57,032 while the death toll climbed to 1,41,581.
Meanwhile, 5,331 people were cured and discharged during the day across the state, taking overall count of recoveries to 65,24,247.

The state’s recovery rate dropped to 96.55 per cent while the fatality rate stood at 2.09 per cent. With the COVID spurt, Maharashtra also saw the figure of active cases spiking to 87,505. So far, 6,97,77,007 pandemic tests have been conducted in the state, data apprised.
