Maharashtra Governor Honors 103 Police Officers with Medals for Service and Valor

Mumbai, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : In a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai, Maharashtra Governor Jagdish Mukhi honored 103 police officers and personnel for their valor and distinguished service on October 9. The awards were presented in recognition of their exemplary contributions to law enforcement and public safety.

These police medals were announced by the President of India during the Independence Day celebrations in 2022 and 2023, as well as on Republic Day in 2023 and 2024. The awards distributed included two President’s Police Medals for Gallantry, 18 Police Medals for Gallantry, three President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service, four President’s Medals for Distinguished Service, 40 Police Medals, and 36 Medals for Commendable Service.

Among those recognized were notable figures such as Niket Kaushik, Commissioner of Police for Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar, Vinay Kumar Chaubey, Commissioner of Police for Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Praveen Salunkhe, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic). Others included Madhukar Pandey, Additional Director General of Police (Administration), Praveen Kumar Padwal, Inspector General of Police (VIP Security), and Nishith Mishra, Inspector General of Police (Training and Special Units).

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Minister of State for Home (Rural) Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manisha Mhaiskar, and Director General of Police Sadanand Date, along with senior police officials and the families of the honored officers.

The ceremony commenced with the national song, the national anthem, and the Maharashtra state song, concluding with the same. Governor Mukhi praised the dedication of the police officers and personnel, emphasizing their essential role in maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.

Governor Mukhi, also a talented artist, poet, and author, was appointed as the Governor of Telangana on July 31, 2024, before taking the oath as Maharashtra’s Governor on March 10, 2026. His extensive career reflects his commitment to administration, development, and cultural heritage.
