New Delhi, May 3: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Saturday that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is paving the way for a transformation in Mumbai, prioritizing a seamless life for its citizens.
In a post on the social media platform X, Goyal expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Fadnavis for chairing a review meeting aimed at transforming North Mumbai into ‘Uttam Mumbai’. This initiative ensures that residents in the area receive world-class services, including healthcare, infrastructure, and other civic amenities.
Earlier, Fadnavis chaired a review meeting addressing various issues in the Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency, with Goyal in attendance.
Fadnavis highlighted that several infrastructure projects are underway in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which will enhance transportation efficiency. He instructed officials to formulate a policy for the effective utilization of reserved ‘housing stock’ for affected citizens.
He mentioned ongoing development work on several plots of land under MMRDA, with many more projects proposed. A directive was issued for joint surveys with central agencies and to send a consolidated land proposal to the central government. Additionally, a nodal officer will be appointed to expedite pending legal matters related to lands under MMRDA, in accordance with court orders.
Fadnavis further directed improvements in equipment, sanitation, and staffing at BMC Shatabdi and Bhagwati hospitals.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to expedite the demarcation of village settlements in Mumbai to ensure all residents have access to civic facilities. He also instructed the development of a master plan for a ‘Convention Center’ in Gorai, modeled after the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
These initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in reshaping Mumbai’s urban landscape, ensuring better connectivity, excellent healthcare, and a dignified standard of living for every citizen. Senior officials were present at the meeting.
