Mahamandleshwar Karoli Shankar Defends Uniform Civil Code Against Owaisis Criticism

Haridwar, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Mahamandleshwar Karoli Shankar Mahadev has come forward to defend the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in response to comments made by AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. Speaking in Haridwar, he emphasized that laws should apply to all citizens equally, and adopting beneficial systems can strengthen unity and brotherhood among people.

Shankar stated, “What is wrong with emulating good practices? If something positive is being done, why not follow it? The UCC is in the interest of all citizens and will foster brotherhood and unity. Under a common law, everyone will conduct their affairs alike. What is objectionable about that? Laws are not made based on religion or caste; they are created according to the needs of the public.”

He pointed out that while the UCC may not align with Owaisi’s interests, it serves both Hindus and Muslims. Shankar criticized leaders who, like Jinnah, engage in divisive politics. He claimed these figures do not just divide based on land, religion, or community but also spread division within humanity itself. “They sow seeds of hatred and thrive on it. The public is now wise enough to see through their tactics,” he added.

Continuing his remarks, Shankar suggested that such leaders would ultimately fail. “Owaisi’s influence is waning; his words are no longer resonating with anyone,” he said. He clarified that the UCC is not exclusive to Muslims but is applicable to all citizens of the country. He advised Owaisi to adjust his perspective to understand that laws are meant for the people, not dictated by religion.

In conclusion, Shankar urged that rather than worrying, leaders should support the government’s initiatives. “It is better to cooperate with the Indian government than to dry up in worry. The laws will not bend to their desires but will align with the needs of India and its citizens,” he asserted.
