Maha: Marathwada logs 17 new Covid cases

Aurangabad, March 3 : The Marathwada region of Maharashtra has recorded 17 new Covid-19 cases, the health authorities said on Thursday. According to reports from the district headquarters, of eight districts in the region, Aurangabad district recorded 10 cases and single death followed by Nanded district that reported three cases. Beed and Osmanabad registered two cases each. No cases were reported in Hingoli, Parbhani, Jalna and Latur districts. Meanwhile, 544 new Covid cases were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 78,66,924. For the first time in the state, no deaths due to Covid-19 were reported. The death toll stands at 1,43,706. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said he was happy that for the first time since April 2020 not a single death due to Covid has been reported. At least 1,007 patients have recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 77,13,575. The recovery rate stands at 98.05 per cent while the fatality rate is at 1.82 per cent. The active cases is 5,643 active cases, the health authorities said. Meanwhile, 38 new cases of Omicron were recorded in the state, taking the tally to 4,771.
