Pune, Apr 11 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray paid glowing tributes to social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on occasion of his birth anniversary on Monday, saying that he was a great social reformer who pioneered social revolution in India. In his greetings, the Chief Minister said that the foundation of today’s modern India was laid by the social revolution of Phule. Mahatma Phule and Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule sacrificed their lives for the truth-seeking movement, public education and women’s education, he said. They also raised their voice against injustice in society, he added. Earlier, Thackeray offered wreath and flowers to the statue of Mahatma Phule. SP SS 1708
