Bhopal, April 17: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the five-day ‘Ekta Parv’ at the sacred site of Omkareshwar in Khandwa district on Friday. This celebration of unity will bring together saints, scholars, and artists from across the country and abroad, showcasing a unique blend of spirituality, culture, and ideas.
The event will take place at Ekta Dham on Mandhata Hill, a historical and spiritual site associated with Adi Shankaracharya. Held on the occasion of Vaishakh Shukla Panchami, the festival aims to spread the message of ‘unity’ through spiritual, intellectual, and cultural activities.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister will also launch the ‘Advaita Lok’ and ‘Akshar Brahma’ exhibitions and participate in Vedic rituals. Prominent spiritual figures, including Swami Sadanand Saraswati, are expected to attend, along with Nivedita Bhide and Swami Shardanand Saraswati.
A key highlight of the festival will be the ‘Advaitamritam – Vimarsh Sabha,’ where scholars and experts will discuss the relevance of Advaita philosophy in modern times. Topics will include ‘Advaita and Zen-Gi,’ artificial intelligence, environmental conservation, global peace, and the Sikh concept of ‘Ek Onkar.’
Cultural programs will be held every evening. On the inaugural day, classical singer Jayteerth Mevundi and Odissi dancer Shubhada Vardhkar will perform. Upcoming days will feature Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music, and Nirgun Vani performances.
A significant moment will occur on April 21, when over 700 youth from India and abroad will take an oath as ‘Shankardoots’ to promote the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya.
Omkareshwar holds immense religious significance, as it is home to the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Situated on Mandhata Island in the Narmada River, this temple attracts thousands of devotees each year, enhancing the spiritual importance of this event.
This festival is part of the state government’s initiative to develop ‘Ekta Dham’ as a global center for spiritual studies. The ‘Statue of Oneness’ and the proposed ‘Advaita Lok’ museum will also become major attractions for devotees, researchers, and tourists in the future.
