Chennai, May 10: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a thrilling victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, winning by 9 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule. LSG batsman Aiden Markram believes that this win has significantly boosted the team’s morale at a crucial time. The team is now looking to maintain this momentum with another victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Before the match against CSK, Markram spoke with broadcasters, stating, “Everything is going well. We are just moving forward; eventually, you find that rhythm and routine. The last win was fantastic. It truly lifted the spirits in the dressing room. We hope to replicate this victory with another strong performance today.”
In the T20 format, South African captain Markram emphasized the need to adapt to different batting positions, as he has been batting in both the opening and middle order for LSG, which has struggled this season.
He remarked, “I think it depends on your specific role. My goal is to score as many runs as possible and understand my position in the middle order. In this format, the requirements can change with every ball or over. You have to keep that in mind. If you are in the middle order, you need to be quite flexible to fulfill your role for the team. The tricky part is that shots that work in the top order can often lead to catches in the middle overs. Personally, I try to find more gaps towards the end of my innings. I adopt unique ways to find gaps in the middle overs.”
Markram highlighted the importance of flexibility while batting in various positions in the shortest format, saying, “Everyone has a slightly different approach. Some players prefer to stay at the crease and find gaps, while others like to use their feet. For me, it’s about hitting shots into open spaces and running quickly. I have always said that I am happy to adapt to any role that is needed. Recently, I have spent more time in the top order, so I am probably more accustomed to that now. However, I have played a lot in the middle order before. I am currently revisiting those middle-order techniques and strategies to implement them effectively.”
