LSG Wins Toss Against KKR, Opts to Bowl First in IPL 2026 Clash

Lucknow, April 26: In the 38th match of IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first.

LSG made one change to their playing eleven, bringing in George Linde in place of M. Siddharth. After winning the toss, Pant stated, “We will bowl first. There is just one change in the playing eleven. Linde has come in for Siddharth. We are working on this, and we need to find a way. We are very close to turning the season around, and I am confident.”

KKR did not make any changes to their lineup. After losing the toss, captain Ajinkya Rahane remarked, “We wanted to bat first. It’s important to see how we perform as a team. We need to give our batting unit the freedom to assess the conditions. We are going in with the same team. The last win was great. It’s always about improvement. We’ve had some good practice sessions, and now we are eagerly awaiting the match.”

Under Rishabh Pant’s leadership, LSG has had a disappointing season so far, winning only 2 out of 7 matches, while suffering 5 losses. The team’s batsmen have not performed as expected, with Nicholas Pooran, Pant, Aiden Markram, and Ayush Badoni struggling. However, bowlers Mohammad Shami and Prince Yadav have made an impact, with Mohsin Khan taking 2 wickets for just 17 runs in the last match against Rajasthan Royals.

On the other hand, KKR has managed to win just 1 out of 7 matches this season, with 5 losses and 1 match ending in a no-result. The performance of KKR’s batsmen has also been underwhelming. Tim Seifert and captain Ajinkya Rahane have failed to provide solid starts. Cameron Green and Rovman Powell have also struggled with the bat. Nonetheless, Rinku Singh showed good form in the last match against Rajasthan Royals, scoring an unbeaten 53 runs to secure victory for his team.

KKR’s Playing Eleven: Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), Tim Seifert (Wicketkeeper), Cameron Green, Ankurish Raghuwanshi, Rovman Powell, Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Ramandeep Singh, Anukul Roy, Vaibhav Arora, and Kartik Tyagi.

LSG’s Playing Eleven: Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (Wicketkeeper/Captain), Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Mukul Chaudhary, George Linde, Mohammad Shami, Prince Yadav, Digvijay Singh Rathi, and Mohsin Khan.
