Leopard electrocuted in Rajsamand

Udaipur : A female leopard was found lying dead on a transformer near a petrol pump at Peeparda in Rajsamand district on Sunday morning. The forest department got the supply line shut before the team pulled down the leopard’s body which was taken to the nursery for an autopsy. Many people gathered at the area to witness the tragic scene.

ACF Vinod Rai said the leopard was around a year old. Since the transformer is installed adjacent to a wall of a hotel , it seems the leopard had tried to leap over the wall but unfortunately it fell on the transformer and got electrocuted. The cat has sustained burn injuries on her body, vets who conducted her autopsy confirmed.

Experts believe the coronavirus lockdowns globally have given parts of the natural world a rare opportunity to experience life with hardly humans around and hence wild animals including leopards, deers etc are exploring emptied streets and waterways.
