New Delhi, April 29: Surendra Kumar Gupta, the state secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has criticized the organizations protesting against the RSS event at Jamia Millia Islamia. He described such protests as unnecessary and emphasized the need for organizations to conduct their activities peacefully.
In an interview, Gupta stated, “Leftist organizations have historically opposed nationalist ideologies. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has completed a century despite these protests. Anti-national elements have been defeated by the RSS on their own ground. Leftist student organizations like SFI and AISA play no significant role in India, which is why they resort to minor protests. Gradually, the dominance of leftist organizations is waning. A dying organization resorts to such demonstrations to survive. Their protests will have no impact.”
Meanwhile, BJP leader Ishwar Singh Thakur commented on the ‘Yuva Kumbh’ event associated with the RSS at Jamia Millia Islamia, stating, “The RSS has completed 100 years of nation-building. Various programs are being organized to connect nationalists and instill nationalist thinking among the youth. The youth festival and Yuva Kumbh at Jamia University aim to raise awareness among the youth about the nation. We condemn those opposing this event.”
It is noteworthy that on Tuesday, the ‘Yuva Kumbh’ was organized at Jamia Millia Islamia to mark the RSS’s centenary. Following the university administration’s approval for the event, student organizations staged protests. With the situation escalating on campus, police set up barricades at the gates and surrounding main roads. Protesting students demanded that the administration revoke the event’s permission immediately and sought clarification on why such an event was allowed on campus.
