Mumbai, April 9: Just days after reports hinted that the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro could approach 5GHz clock speeds, a new leak is providing more clarity on the specifications.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo, the Dimensity 9600 Pro will feature a 2+3+3 CPU configuration based on a “dual-core all-big-core architecture.”

The chip is expected to include two high-performance “Canyon” cores, three “Gelas-b” cores, and three standard “Gelas” cores. The tipster emphasizes that the primary core clock speeds are anticipated to approach the 5GHz threshold.
The leak also indicates support for SME 2 (Scalable Matrix Extension 2), aimed at enhancing machine learning and AI-related tasks. On the graphics front, the chip is rumored to incorporate an Arm “Magni” GPU.
Additionally, memory and storage enhancements are on the horizon. The Dimensity 9600 Pro is speculated to support LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage, both of which promise faster data transfer rates and improved efficiency compared to current standards.
At the core of these advancements is TSMC’s N2P process. DCS reports that internal specifications suggest a performance boost of 10 to 15 percent, along with a 25 to 30 percent reduction in power consumption.
Interestingly, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is also expected to achieve a performance increase of less than 20%, despite reaching similar clock speeds near the 5GHz mark.
As anticipated, the Dimensity 9600 lineup will not be uniform. The Pro model is set to feature the most advanced architecture, while the standard version is likely to utilize a 3nm process, targeting more mainstream devices.
Previous reports indicate that the Vivo X500 series and the Oppo Find X10 lineup will be the first to adopt the Dimensity 9600 chip.
