Leaders Pay Tribute to Gopal Krishna Gokhale on His Birth Anniversary

New Delhi, May 9: The nation remembers the great freedom fighter, thinker, and social reformer Gopal Krishna Gokhale on his birth anniversary. On this occasion, several prominent leaders, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, paid tribute to Gokhale. They emphasized that Gokhale’s advocacy for social justice, economic reform, and political awareness during colonial India remains a cornerstone of our democratic values today.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express his respect, stating, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and pioneer of liberal thought, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, I pay my heartfelt homage. Gokhale’s efforts to inspire social justice, economic reform, and political awareness in colonial India are still the foundation of our democratic values. He was a strong advocate for restraint, dialogue, and constitutional methods. His thoughts continue to inspire us to actively participate in nation-building.”

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan echoed Gokhale’s famous words, stating, “The future India will not be one of poverty and discontent, but one of industries, awakened powers, and prosperity.” In a heartfelt tribute on ‘X’, Chouhan noted, “Gopal Krishna Gokhale’s inspiring and invaluable thoughts will always motivate the youth to serve the nation.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid his respects, writing, “On the birth anniversary of Gopal Krishna Gokhale, a pioneer of the Indian freedom struggle and an excellent social reformer, I offer my humble tribute. Your unforgettable contribution to the independence movement, progressive and liberal ideology, commitment to social harmony, and dedication to education will always guide us in nation-building.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also honored Gokhale on his birth anniversary, stating that Gokhale’s contributions to nation-building, education, and social reforms are unforgettable.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised Gokhale, saying, “His contribution to providing ideological leadership to the freedom movement and promoting modern education has been unparalleled. His high ideals and democratic values will always inspire us.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also paid tribute, stating, “Gokhale dedicated his entire life to serving the nation and awakening social consciousness. His thoughts continue to inspire us to walk the path of truth and non-violence.”
