
New Delhi, April 24: National Panchayati Raj Day is being celebrated across the country today. On this occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several prominent leaders have extended their greetings to the citizens. Shah stated that under the Modi government, panchayats have become more empowered and self-reliant, contributing to the creation of a ‘Developed India.’
In a post on the social media platform X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote, “Heartfelt wishes to the citizens on National Panchayati Raj Day. The ‘Panchayat system,’ one of the oldest democratic traditions in India, is a strong unit of our democracy. Panchayats play a crucial role in rural development, governance, social justice, disaster management, and cultural preservation, becoming more empowered and self-reliant under the Modi government, thus contributing to the creation of a ‘Developed India.'”
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also conveyed his wishes for National Panchayati Raj Day on X, stating, “For realizing the dream of a self-reliant India, it is essential for panchayats to be empowered and developed. The Panchayati Raj system plays a vital role in rural development and the upliftment of the nation. Our government is making every possible effort to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan extended his greetings to all public representatives, village panchayats, and villagers on National Panchayati Raj Day, stating, “The Panchayati Raj system is a powerful stream of public participation that nurtures democracy. From village assemblies to major development resolutions, the participation of the people in every decision is true democracy.”
Chouhan urged everyone to commit to actively contributing to making their panchayats clean, prosperous, educated, and self-reliant. He emphasized that together, we can enrich our villages and build a developed India.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the residents of the state and shared his wishes on X, saying, “The Panchayati Raj system is a means of strengthening India’s democratic tradition. Let us all commit to further reinforcing the spirit of ‘Gram Swaraj’ and building prosperous and self-reliant villages, as this will realize the dream of a ‘Developed India – Developed Uttar Pradesh.'”
On National Panchayati Raj Day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav posted, “Panchayati Raj institutions are a strong foundational unit of democracy in realizing the vision of Gram Swaraj. They play a significant role in local self-governance, public participation, transparency, digital empowerment, women’s participation, and the construction of a self-reliant India.”
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma called upon the residents of the state on National Panchayati Raj Day, saying, “On this occasion, let us resolve to make our panchayats more empowered, self-reliant, and digital, so that we can build a golden nation through the development of rural India.”
