Serbia clinched the bronze medal by narrowly beating France 20-19.
In the women’s competition, the USA triumphed over Australia with a score of 21-20 in the final. Mikayla Williams scored the winning basket and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). Australia made history by reaching the women’s final for the first time, while the Netherlands secured bronze by defeating Azerbaijan 21-14.
Over the course of seven days, the tournament featured 40 teams from around the globe, attracting over 100,000 spectators.
The inaugural tournament, originally called the FIBA 3×3 World Championship, took place in Athens, Greece, in August 2012. The first edition included a mixed event with two men and two women per team, but this format has since been discontinued.
