Lara Dutta Honors Late Father on First Anniversary with Special Ritual and Planting Ceremony

Mumbai, May 13: Actress Lara Dutta held a special prayer ceremony on Tuesday to commemorate the first anniversary of her father’s passing. In a heartfelt gesture, she planted a Jacaranda tree outside her home in his memory.

Lara shared photos and videos from the prayer event on Instagram, featuring old pictures of her father along with moments from the ceremony. She penned a touching note to honor him.

In her message, she wrote, “On this first anniversary, we all remember my beloved father. Last year, we celebrated his birthday together in prayer. This year, we held a prayer in his memory and planted a Jacaranda tree at home. I am sure he is joyfully celebrating in heaven with his loved ones. A love that transcends all boundaries.”

Lara’s father, L.K. Dutta, was a distinguished officer in the Indian Air Force, who passed away at the age of 84 on May 31, 2025. He was a fearless helicopter pilot who served the nation during the wars of 1965, 1969, and 1971. He also served as the personal pilot to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The actress will soon be seen in the comedy-drama film “Welcome to the Jungle.” This highly anticipated action-comedy promises to deliver the same confusion and humor as its predecessors. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Disha Patani, and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Additionally, Lara will portray the significant role of Kaikeyi in the film “Ramayana,” which stars Ranbir Kapoor (as Ram), Sai Pallavi (as Sita), and Yash (as Ravana). This film is expected to hit theaters on November 6, 2026, coinciding with Diwali.
