La Liga: Real Madrid, Atletico, and Girona Secure Victories

New Delhi, March 15: Real Madrid has intensified the La Liga title race by defeating Elche 4-1. This victory places Real Madrid just one point behind Barcelona, who currently leads the table.

The match, held at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, saw Real Madrid dominate from the outset. Antonio Rudiger scored the first goal in the 39th minute, capitalizing on a poorly cleared free kick from Elche with a powerful shot.

Federico Valverde then extended the lead to 2-0 with a stunning shot from the flank. This goal reflects Valverde’s excellent form, having recently scored a hat-trick against Manchester City.

The third goal for Real Madrid came from Dean Huijsen, who netted a brilliant header in the 66th minute. Arda Güler sealed the match with a fourth goal, securing a decisive 4-1 victory. Elche managed to score only once when young player Manuel Angel accidentally put the ball into his own net.

In another match, Atletico Madrid triumphed over Getafe CF 1-0 in a local derby, with Nahuel Molina scoring the sole goal in the seventh minute.

Additionally, Real Oviedo defeated Valencia 1-0, with captain David Costas scoring the only goal from a corner, keeping the team’s hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

Girona FC also celebrated a significant win at home, beating Athletic Bilbao 3-0. Hugo Rincon opened the scoring in the third minute, followed by goals from Ajeddine Ounahi and Claudio Echeverri in the second half to secure the victory.
