Kolkata, June 14: TMC legislator Kunal Ghosh has targeted party MP Sudip Bandopadhyay for joining the rebel faction of Trinamool Congress MPs. Speaking to reporters, Ghosh likened Bandopadhyay’s departure from the party to a “buy one, get one free” offer. He further stated that Bandopadhyay has switched parties multiple times and is unhappy with the current situation.
Ghosh emphasized that Mamata Banerjee deserved this outcome, as she had trusted individuals like Bandopadhyay, turning a blind eye to their past actions. He mentioned that their leader, Tapas Roy, had to leave the party due to Bandopadhyay’s influence, despite Roy being a capable leader. Ghosh accused Bandopadhyay of betraying the party and causing the loss of several qualified leaders.
Bringing up a past issue, Ghosh noted that Tapas Roy was a good person and was suspended from the party for stating this. He revealed that he had called Sudip Bandopadhyay two days ago to inquire about his whereabouts when the CID visited Mamata Banerjee’s residence. He was informed that Bandopadhyay’s wife, Nayana Bandopadhyay, and TMC legislator were on their way there. However, Nayana never arrived at Banerjee’s home, while Sudip was seen at the residence of Bhupender Yadav.
Coincidentally, rebel TMC MPs, led by Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, held a meeting at the home of Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, where Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari was also present. On Saturday, Sudip Bandopadhyay officially joined the rebel faction.
Sudip Bandopadhyay, the MP from Kolkata North, was spotted in a car with rebel MP Shatabdi Roy in Delhi. They left the airport together for Bhupender Yadav’s residence. The two arrived at Yadav’s home and attended a meeting. In recent days, rebel TMC MPs have held several rounds of meetings at the minister’s house. The rebel faction is led by Kakali Ghosh Dastidar and Shatabdi Roy, making Bandopadhyay’s inclusion in this group significant.
