Chandigarh, March 21 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kultar Singh Sandhwan was on Monday unanimously elected the Speaker of the 16th Punjab Assembly, just over 10 days after the AAP swept the polls winning 92 of the 117 seats. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann proposed the name of Sandhwan and it seconded by Cabinet Minister Harpal Cheema. He was then unanimously elected the Speaker. Congratulating the new Speaker, Mann, in his maiden speech on the floor of the House, assured live streaming of the proceedings of the House so that the public can know what issues are being raised and by who. Mann expressed hope that the opposition would play a constructive role to make the Punjab Vidhan Sabha a model House in the whole country. DB PRT MR
