Kuldeep Yadav Creates History Against South Africa in ODI Format

Visakhapatnam, December 6 โ€“ India’s chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has become the Indian bowler with the most ‘4-wicket hauls’ against a single team in ODI format. India restricted the South African team to 270 runs in the third ODI match at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Saturday. In this innings, India’s chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs.

With this performance, Kuldeep Yadav became the third Indian bowler to achieve the most ‘4-wicket hauls’ in ODI format. Kuldeep has accomplished this feat on 11 occasions. Ahead of Kuldeep in this list are Mohammed Shami (16 times) and Ajit Agarkar (12 times).

This was Kuldeep Yadav’s fifth ‘4-wicket haul’ against South Africa, which is a record for the most ‘4-wicket hauls’ by any Indian bowler against a single team in ODIs. Zaheer Khan against Zimbabwe and Mohammed Shami against West Indies have achieved this feat four times each.

Speaking about this match, India won the toss in ODI format after a long time. The host team invited South Africa to bat first.

The South African team lost Ryan Rickelton’s wicket on the fifth ball itself. Rickelton couldn’t even open his account. Captain Temba Bavuma came to bat and partnered with Quinton de Kock for a 113-run partnership for the second wicket, taking the team to a score of 114. Bavuma played an innings of 48 runs off 67 balls with 5 fours.

From here, Quinton de Kock took charge. He partnered with Matthew Breetzke for a 54-run partnership off 44 balls for the third wicket, taking the score to 168 runs.

Breetzke contributed 24 runs to the team’s account, while Dewald Brevis added 29 runs. For South Africa, Quinton de Kock scored the highest 106 runs off 89 balls. His innings included 6 sixes and 8 fours. Besides these, Keshav Maharaj added an unbeaten 20 runs to the team’s account.

For Team India, Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets each, while Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja claimed 1 wicket each.

The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa is currently tied at 1-1. The team that wins this match will clinch the series.
