This victory has revitalized KKR’s chances of making it to the playoffs. However, MI’s loss has adversely affected the standings of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
KKR’s win against MI has propelled them two spots up the points table, placing them sixth with 13 points from 13 matches. To secure a playoff spot, KKR must win their final league match and rely on the outcomes of other teams. The defeat has pushed CSK down to seventh place, while DC now sits at eighth, both teams holding 12 points and still in contention for the playoffs.
Three teams have already secured their playoff berths: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Currently, Rajasthan Royals (RR) occupies the fourth spot in the standings, having won seven out of their 13 matches, totaling 14 points. Punjab Kings are also in the playoff race despite facing six consecutive losses, holding 13 points from 13 matches.
In the match played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, MI batted first, scoring 147 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. Corbin Bosch was the standout performer for MI, scoring 32 runs off 18 balls, while captain Hardik Pandya contributed 26 runs. KKR successfully chased down the target of 148 runs in 18.5 overs, with Manish Pandey scoring a solid 45 runs off 33 balls and Rovman Powell adding 40 runs off 30 balls.
