
New Delhi, May 9: The 51st match of IPL 2026 took place at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, featuring Delhi Capitals (DC) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). DC continued to struggle, suffering a heavy defeat by 8 wickets, effectively ending their hopes of reaching the playoffs.
KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, DC managed to score only 142 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Pathum Nissanka was the standout performer, scoring 50 runs off 29 balls.
In response, KKR chased down the target in just 14.2 overs, scoring 147 runs for 2 wickets. Opener Finn Allen achieved his first IPL century, remaining unbeaten at 100 runs off 47 balls, including 10 sixes. Cameron Green supported him with a quick 33 runs off 27 balls.
Following the match, the points table saw some changes. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) leads with 14 points from 11 matches, followed by Punjab Kings with 13 points from 10 matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Titans are tied with 12 points each, while Chennai Super Kings holds 10 points in sixth place.
With this victory, KKR has moved up to seventh place, accumulating 9 points from 10 matches, including 4 wins and 1 no-result. DC has slipped to eighth place with 8 points from 11 matches. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are in ninth and tenth places, respectively, both with 6 points.
Despite having the same points, the ranking difference among teams is due to the net run rate.
Post-match, the Orange and Purple Caps remain with Heinrich Klaasen and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, respectively. Klaasen from Sunrisers Hyderabad has scored 494 runs in 11 innings this season, while RCB’s Bhuvneshwar has taken 17 wickets in 10 matches.
