Kishatwar Police Resolve Case of Religious Defilement, Five Arrested

Kishtwar, May 18: The police in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir have arrested five individuals in connection with a case of religious defilement in the Chhatru area. Kishtwar SSP Naresh Singh announced the arrests on Sunday.

On May 8, the police received reports of a defilement incident involving some anti-social elements at the Chhatru police station. Upon receiving the information, the police acted swiftly, registering a case and initiating an investigation. An FIR numbered 13/2026 was filed under Section 299 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Given the seriousness of the matter, a special investigation team was formed, led by Inspector Rishi Kumar. This team operated under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Singh and DSP Nitish Sharma.

During the investigation, several suspects were interrogated. Based on technical evidence and intelligence, the main accused were identified. Subsequently, on May 15, police arrested five individuals: Sajjad Hussain, Din Mohammad, Mohammad Ramzan, Ghulam Hasan, and Mohammad Ismail. All are residents of the Kawath Drubeel area in Mughal Maidan tehsil. Sharp weapons were also recovered based on the accused’s indications.

SSP Kishtwar has urged the public to maintain peace and communal harmony. He stated that acts that hurt the religious sentiments of any community will not be tolerated, and strict action will continue in such cases.
