Kerala CM Vijayan Criticizes BJP and Congress After Court Ruling

New Delhi, February 28: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the acquittal of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Excise Policy case is a significant blow to the central government’s alleged political misuse of investigative agencies.

Vijayan, who is in Delhi for a party Politburo meeting, spoke with Kejriwal over the phone.

In a statement released on Friday night, Vijayan emphasized that this ruling exposes the BJP’s attempts to target political opponents through false cases.

He remarked, “This decision is a setback not only for the BJP but also for the Congress, which has aided the BJP for its political gain in this matter.”

The Chief Minister pointed out that the court effectively questioned the use of central agencies to destabilize non-BJP state governments.

He highlighted the alleged criticism of the CBI, which had made accusations against the defendants without sufficient evidence.

Vijayan accused investigative agencies of being used for political advantage and claimed that a “political conspiracy” was orchestrated to weaken the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi.

He further accused the Congress of playing a crucial role in initiating action against Kejriwal. He recalled that in June 2022, the then-President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee contacted the Delhi Police under the Ministry of Home Affairs, alleging corruption in the excise policy.

He also reminded that when Sisodia was arrested by a central agency, Congress welcomed the move and demanded Kejriwal’s arrest.

Vijayan alleged that complaints from Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit were used by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor to target the AAP government.

Describing Congress as a “megaphone” for the BJP against the AAP, Vijayan asserted that this ruling will have political repercussions beyond Delhi.
