Thiruvananthapuram, May 5: Following the defeat of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by the CPM in the Kerala Assembly elections, state BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized the Marxist ideology, stating it has become outdated.
He attributed the LDF’s loss to the lack of an economic vision for the state. The BJP managed to secure 3 out of 140 assembly seats, with Chandrasekhar winning from the Nemom constituency.
In an interview, he compared the CPM’s situation in Kerala to its status in Tripura and West Bengal, asserting, “The condition of the CPM in Kerala mirrors that in Tripura and West Bengal. The Marxist ideology is now outdated and lacks a plan for economic development.”
Chandrasekhar claimed that Marxist ideology has failed to create jobs. He pointed out that countries like Russia, China, and Vietnam, which were once Marxist, have now embraced free markets, capitalism, private investment, and entrepreneurship.
He accused the CPM of lacking vision and stated that over the past decade, the people of Kerala have only faced corruption, appeasement, and exploitation of temples, leading to their ousting from power. There was a strong anti-CPM wave in the state that benefited the Congress party.
The United Democratic Front (UDF) achieved a significant victory in this election, winning 102 seats. However, the BJP President noted that his party’s success in winning 3 seats is historic, marking the first time the BJP has secured seats in Kerala. “Our 3 MLAs will enter the assembly, but most importantly, our workers made this victory possible. This win is the result of the hard work of thousands of our activists.”
